Actually, ‘winner’ is not an appropriate word because this wasn’t a competition. Rather, I wanted the guitar to go to someone who would appreciate it and use it, and I also wanted it to be a truly Spirit-led exercise.
Thank you all for writing in – if I had half-a dozen more guitars available I would have been delighted to give them away because your stories were so sincere and from the heart.
In case you haven’t been following this, it all started HERE, with my “Beater to Better” project, along with a sermon I preached on this topic, The Touch of the Masters Hand, which you can listen to HERE, or click HERE for more images of the “Beater to Better” transformation in PowerPoint.

Here is Jacolene’s letter which I posted on the site as ‘Anonymous’ because she sent me a private email. She has subsequently given me permission to use her name, and here is her original email:
“I am too shy to share my bit on your blog (hence the reason I am sending this mail).
I adore beautiful music. Always wanted to learn to play an instrument like a guitar or harp, but never got the opportunity (I only played on organs and piano’s when I was a child). Then about a month ago a Christian lady told me out of the blue that she will teach me how to play a guitar. I was so touched by the offer, but had to be honest and I told her that I do not own a guitar. She simply said, wait onto the Lord.
It really felt this morning that my heart was going to jump out of my chest when you made the announcement of the guitar. The voice was like “Write a mail. Write a mail” nonstop. I am just always so shy and not sure what words to use; not sure if my message will be clear.
Now its late (23:47) and I can’t sleep. I’m tossing and turning. I still have that pressing of the Spirit on my heart about your announcement and that’s why I’m writing to you. I just have to obey God. He shall do the rest.
I can only say that I want to be obedient to God. If He want me to play a guitar’ I shall do it with all the love, energy and power He provides. In my eyes the guitar shall always be “God’s guitar; so I shall be looking and caring after it like I do with all things God trust in my hands. And everything involving the guitar shall be done to the Glory of His Kingdom.”
Jacolene, may this guitar bless you and all those who get to hear you play. Isn’t God wonderful!
Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.

Oh what a touching story – so glad you got your guitar Jacolene and so grateful to the Lord for his kindness and generosity towards you xxx
Excellent decision Chris – although automatic I would think 🙂 after such a wonderful request. May the sound from that guitar glorifies the Lord.
Love this testimony – only our Lord Jesus could be so loving and faithful! So happy for Jacolene 🙂
Excellent decision Chris and a wonderful inspired motivation from Jacolene. May the sounds emanating from that guitar glorify the Lord for years to come.
Great!! What an awesome God we serve! Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, Jacolene.
