Do you know the origin of the expression ‘a red herring’? = ‘something that distracts from the main issue’ New England settlers who went hunting in the forests left pieces of smoked Herring on their tracks to confuse any wolves trying to track them. John chapter 7 contains some Red Herrings and we must not be distracted by them.
