Session 6 is available on YouTube from 12h00 Tuesday 22nd March 2022: click this link to go directly there… https://youtu.be/NppqfxKe2E8

In this session there are no solemn warnings from Hebrews, but we rather focus on some wonderful and uplifting topics.  I cover a lot of ground but the highlight is the description of how the Tabernacle is a model and shadow of a heavenly reality. – you don’t want to miss the revelation of ‘the moving Altar of Incense’ and what it means to us today.

If you prefer to listen to the bible study as an audio-only version, just click on the play button at the end of this post. You can follow along in your bible in Hebrews 8.

Hebrews Session 5

Session 5 of the Hebrews bible study goes live on YouTube at 12h00 Tuesday 15th March 2022: click on the link/video below to go directly there where you can set a reminder to view it “live” while I am in the room, or watch it later, whatever works for you.

In this session I deal with two important subjects:
  1. The nature of prayer (why we pray and why we pray the way we do), and
  2. Whether believers can lose their salvation.

If you prefer to listen to the bible study as an audio-only version, just click on the play button below.

I hope to see you on Tuesday!

Hello all, I hope you are gaining something from the series as it’s time for the next episode of the Hebrews bible study and you can access it on

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tHgL6j6m40

As usual the video will go live on my youtube channel at 12h00 Tuesday (08/03/2022) and if you attend at that time (you can set a reminder to do so) you can say hi on the chat and I will be there to wave back and answer any questions you may have. We are on Hebrews chapter 3 so get your bibles bookmarked.

In this session the two main themes are:
  1. Jesus our superior king (leader) and
  2. The second of the five solemn warnings.

This session was the most technically challenging of all so far. Things just did not work the way they should have and after trying five times to record, I managed to knock my glass of water all over my work surface…grrr.

Anyway, we all like bloopers so here is one of the lighter moments in the recording saga:

Hebrews Session 3

Tuesday 1st March is International Pancake Day (yum), but it is also when Session 3 of the Hebrews bible study goes live. If you view it at 12h00 noon on Tuesday you will be able to interact with me and others via the chat feature, but you can watch it anytime after that.

The Link is https://youtu.be/UQbznOyq75U

This session is about how Jesus is superior to angels because they are messengers of the Word of God but he is the Word of God – they are servants but he is The Son.

Hebrews 1:4 to 2:18 also contains the first of five solemn warnings not to drift away from the Christian Faith and it is as much for us as it was for the Jewish Christians of Paul’s day.

As always, if you prefer to listen to the bible study as an audio-only version, please click on the play button below. Please share this post with those who would benefit, and subscribe, like and comment on this and our podcast channel. Thank you.

About Me

My name is Christopher Peppler and I was born in Cape Town, South Africa in 1947. While working in the financial sector I achieved a number of business qualifications from the Institute of Bankers, Damelin Management School, and The University of the Witwatersrand Business School. After over 20 years as a banker, I followed God’s calling and joined the ministry full time. After becoming a pastor of what is now a quite considerable church, I  earned an undergraduate theological qualification from the Baptist Theological College of Southern Africa and post-graduate degrees from two United States institutions. I was also awarded the Doctor of Theology in Systematic Theology from the University of Zululand in 2000.

Four years before that I established the South African Theological Seminary (SATS), which today is represented in over 70 countries and has more than 2 500 active students enrolled with it. I presently play an role supervising Masters and Doctoral students.

I am a passionate champion of the Christocentric or Christ-centred Principle, an approach to biblical interpretation and theological construction that emphasises the centrality of Jesus

I have been happily married to Patricia since the age of 20, have two children, Lance and Karen, a daughter-in-law Tracey, and granddaughters Jessica and Kirsten. I have now retired from both church and seminary leadership and devote my time to writing, discipling, and the classical guitar.
