Dominion Theology (also known as Dominionism) is a group of Christian political ideologies that seek to institute a nation governed by Christians based on Christian understandings of biblical law.

Christian Dominionism is, among other things, a believe that God desires Christians to rise to power through civil systems so that His Word might then govern the nation. This belief is based on Genesis 1:28, which says, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth”. Christian Dominionists take this verse as a divine mandate to claim dominion over the earth, physically, spiritually and politically.
